THE WARM CUP: What does abandonment mean to you, and how has it shaped your journey of loneliness?
D'elve: It was hard for me to face that word in the mirror; it left an ugly scar. There were so many questions—You become a stranger to this world. You internalize a lot. You walk through the scorch of winter's breath—it creates a vibration in your skin that makes your teeth chatter. You never forget the sting of winter. You never forget that lonesome door.
Question 2: How have you found ways to cope with and heal from these feelings of abandonment and loneliness?
Answer: Over time, you realize that it wasn't abandonment---it's tough love. The rock before the diamond appears; that those who love and support you, never leave, even in the absence of. You mature into the understanding that there are some doors you must walk through alone. And over time, you come to appreciate that door that led to the fight of your life.
Question 3: How has this journey of overcoming abandonment and loneliness influenced your creative process and the work you share with the world on "The Warm Cup"?
Answer: I write from a dying experience. As a poet, you must! You shed old ideas and beliefs. You die to everything you thought to be true—that's when the magic unfolds and the universe begins to open up, it holds your hand and welcomes you in, provides you with a warm cup. That's the journey I desire to share with my readers. To bring them in from the cold, to provide them with a warm cup of understanding. To share in a togetherness—a resurrection from the pain.
Question 4: Can you share a specific poem or piece of prose from "The Warm Cup" that encapsulates this journey from abandonment and loneliness to healing and resurrection?
Title: Embracing the Warmth
In the cold of winter's breath, alone I walked
through the sting, I bore the weight,
A stranger to this world,
teeth chattering,
flesh like stoned earth,
It makes you internalize.
A moment in life when nothing gets in and nothing gets out.
The winter of your life becomes a silent teacher,
Revealing that love and support never, truly, depart,
But there are some paths you must walk alone.
You die.
Shedding old ideas,
beliefs,
and former truths,
The universe opens up to you—and provides you
small sips to the understanding.
You become part of this cosmic resurrection,
Inviting you in from the cold,
—you remember your days in the sun.
